Communication Service Interruption

Saratoga Springs, NY (July 17, 2008) - Please be aware that interruptions in Yaddo's telephone, fax, and internet service may be expected from Friday morning through Monday morning (July 18 – July 21) as workers are on site to install equipment necessary to move the Yaddo office staff from its current temporary quarters in the Yaddo Mansion to new temporary quarters on the second floor of the office/garage building. These moves are due to a May 10th fire that caused extensive damage to the office/garage building.

Thankfully, the fire occurred when no one was in the building. There were no injuries and the fire was quickly extinguished by the local fire department. However, the basement maintenance space, where the fire originated, sustained major damage, and there was smoke and soot damage to the administrative offices on the first floor, and the second floor that houses the media room and other functions. The clean-up process and necessary repairs continue in the basement and on the ground floor of the office/garage building.
