Saratoga Springs, NY (October 17, 2006) - Yaddo is pleased to announce the appointment of Vince Passaro as Director of Foundation/Corporate Relations and Special Projects, effective October 30th, 2006.
Mr. Passaro, a writer who has twice been a guest artist at Yaddo, will be based in New York City but will make frequent trips to Saratoga Springs. He will be responsible for developing a cohesive and comprehensive program for securing gifts from foundations, corporations, and individuals to meet the operating and capital needs of Yaddo. And he will oversee the development of marketing and related materials to be used in the solicitation of major gifts, planned giving, and in the service of special projects, including cultivation events and a 2008-2009 Yaddo Archive exhibition at The New York Public Library.
Yaddo's President, Elaina Richardson, said, "I'm just thrilled that an artist of Vince's caliber has joined our staff. He knows Yaddo from the inside and will be a great help in several areas, working with me to cultivate and broaden the New York City, regional and national constituencies of support for Yaddo."
Mr. Passaro is the author of the novel Violence, Nudity, Adult Content (Simon & Schuster, 2002) and of numerous essays on literature, culture, and politics. A contributing editor at Harper's Magazine, Mr. Passaro has served as the Director of University Relations/Public Affairs at Baruch College/CUNY and, prior to that, held a similar position at Adelphi University. He has taught creative writing and English literature at Hofstra University, Adelphi University, and Columbia University's graduate writing program, where he earned his MFA in 1988.
"I have a long and deep relationship to Yaddo, where I was a resident while writing my last novel and among whose active members I count many close friends, so I am delighted about this opportunity, and grateful to (Yaddo Chair) Peter Gould and Elaina Richardson for making it possible. Yaddo is a place I love and I can't think of a more worthy task than trying to help it thrive in the future," said Mr. Passaro.
