– Shannon Clute earned his PhD in Romance Studies from Cornell University. He has taught French literature, French and Italian language, great books, and the history of mystery fiction and film noir at various colleges and universities. In 2006 he completed his first mystery, which was selected as one of ten semi-finalists in the Court TV "Next Great Crime Writer" contest. He works as a freelance writer, editor, and podcaster in Atlanta.

Richard Edwards earned his PhD in Critical Studies from University of Southern California's School of Cinema-Television. He has taught film and digital media production courses at USC, Loyola Marymount and Saint Mary's College of California. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Media Arts and Science in the New Media Program at Indiana University's School of Informatics in Indianapolis, IN.

Together, Clute and Edwards have produced two successful and critically acclaimed podcast series: "Out of the Past: Investigating Film Noir," and "Behind the Black Mask: Mystery Writers Revealed." Published since July, 2005, "Out of the Past" has the distinction of being among the first film analysis podcasts, has received mention in the Chronicle of Higher Education, and has been a featured "At the Movies" podcast at iTunes. Both podcasts have been lauded by the NITLE as outstanding models of liberal education scholarship in the digital age, and are referenced and cited at Wikipedia. In 2008, Clute and Edwards co-authored a book on the topic of film noir, and served as the official podcasters for the Noircon conference.
