15 Yaddo Artists Named NYFA Fellows

– Fifteen Yaddo artists are among the 94 New York State residents selected from a field of more than 4,300 applicants for 2012 New York Foundation for the Arts fellowships.

This year’s Yaddo NYFA fellowship recipients are fiction writers Alexandra Chasin, Kiera Coffee, Susan Daitch, B.G. Firmani, Scott Geiger, Thaddeus Rutkowski, and Amanda Stern; painters Rosanna Bruno and Deborah Zlotsky;  filmmakers Todd Chandler, Barbara Hammer, Kimberly Reed, and Pawel Wojtasik; and interdisciplinary artists Joseph Keckler and Jason Mitcham. In addition, four other Yaddodians – painter Franklin Evans, interdisciplinary artist Jeff Stark, and the eteam (collaborators Franziska Lamprecht and Hajoe Moderegger ) were on the list of 16 fellowship finalists; and Yaddo performance artist Saya Woolfalk served as a panelist for the interdisciplinary art category selection committee.
 

Rutkowski also is the designated winner of the Gregory Millard Fellowship, which was established by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in 1984 in memory of poet and playwright Gregory MIllard, who was ssistant Commissioner of Cultureal Affairs from 1978 until his death in 1984. Recipients are New York City residents chosen in several categories from those recommended by the various panels.

The fellowships, intended to provide support to individual artists at critical stages in their careers, include a cash grant of $7,000 for unrestricted use.
