NPR Feature Born at Yaddo
Saratoga Springs, NY ( August 12, 2011) - Tune in tomorrow to National Public Radio's Weekend Edition Saturday for a conversation between Jacki Lyden and Jeff Talman, who will talk about his new installation in Germany's Bavarian Forest.
Lyden and Talman met when both were guests at Yaddo earlier this summer. Talman invited his fellow artists to his studio for a demonstration from Nature of the Night Sky, a sound installation on view through September 18 in the forest of Gibacht near Furth im Wald, Germany. HIs work intrigued Lyden, an author and veteran NPR correspondent, who thought it also would interest NPR listeners. Astrophysicist Daniel Huber, who collaborated with Talman on the project, also will join the discussion.
Nature of the Night Sky, based on recorded sounds of the stars in the forest night which are broadcast through speakers mounted in trees above a natural forest amphitheater at The Bayerische WaldVerein, opens to visitors nightly after sundown, affording them an opportunity to view the stars in the sky while listening to the piece.
Nature of the Night Sky soon will be available on disc in surround sound format.
The interview is scheduled to air in the bottom of the first hour of Saturday's show. Check your local NPR affiliate for the broadcast time in your area. If you miss the original airing, it will be available online for later listening.
