Yaddo Seeks to Connect with Veterans

Saratoga Springs, NY (April 4, 2011) - The recent moving story in The New York Times of the reburial in January of World War II veteran and Yaddo writer Alston Anderson (read more here), has inspired us to learn more about other former residents who also have served in the armed forces.

As a first step, we've begun to compile a list of Yaddo artists who are veterans. If you meet this criteria, please contact Jenny Godlewski at jgodlewski@yaddo.org. We are interested in your branch, the years you served, if your service occurred in close proximity to a Yaddo residency, and the different ways your military experience affected or informed your work. We look forward to hearing from you, and to keeping you informed as to how we could use this information to encourage veteran artists to apply to Yaddo and take advantage of the resources we have to offer to them.
