September 18 | The Power of Silence, with Elaina Richardson 

From monastic life to the joy of a solitary walk in nature the importance of quiet time has been well understood. Now, in today’s frantic world, it can be harder than ever to find. Elaina Richardson on the necessity of securing the sound of silence and its importance to a creative life.

Elaina Richardson has been the President of Yaddo since 2000. Over the years she has overseen the funding and construction of 7 new live/work studios, the complete renovation of the famed Yaddo mansion, expanded the program and public outreach, and launched the successful podcast, Shadow Yaddo. Prior to Yaddo, she was Editor-in-chief of Elle Magazine and has also worked for the BBC, Mirabella magazine, Travel & Leisure, and in various consulting roles. She has advanced degrees in 18th century English Literature and an Honorary doctorate from Kenyon College.
